It sounds a lot more formal than it really is.
Basically, we get together Thursday night over good food, for fellowship and the opportunity to think a little outside of our own disciplines. It’s pretty informal; don’t worry, there’s no homework!
On most occasions, great homemade soup is provided by a local church, and a scholar or public intellectual from the area drops by to eat with us, and to provoke and cajole us with food for thought. The goal is to think more about how our faith integrates with our learning, and what it means to embark on a Christian vocation during and after University.
The event is open to everyone on campus, including folks out there in the “real” world. Come on by!
We meet @ Conrad Grebel, in room 1101. Dinner starts at 5:15, and the discussion/lecture starts at 6.
Hi! I’m Brian Bork, the Christian Reformed Campus Minister here at Laurier and UW. This is my third year working on these campuses, and it’s an honour to serve as a leader in this small outpost of the Kingdom of God here in Waterloo.
You’re always welcome to stop by for a chat at either campus, or somewhere in between. Coffee is always on me.
I hope we get a chance to know each other better during your time here. Click here for some more info about me, if you wish.
Or, email me: waterloocampusministry@gmail.com

Since I’m on two campuses, I work out of two offices.
At Waterloo, you can find me in the Student Life Centre, Office 3108.
At Laurier, I’m in room 119 in MacDonald House Residence.
On alternating Thursdays, faculty and staff gather at Laurier to discuss good books (and, to be honest, many other tangentially-related things). We read explicitly Christian books, but also books that have important things to contribute to faith and formation in the University and elsewhere.
We meet in the boardroom in Macdonald House at 8am.
::tuesday afternoon tea::
We sit down to tea every Tuesday afternoon, in the office @ UW. There’s no stuffy silver tea service or anything like that. Just laid-back camaraderie, and conversation that meanders from one topic to the next. Come by for a chat, some cookies, and good fellowship!
Every Tuesday afternoon, starting at 2.30. 3108 in the SLC
::from the blog::
At university, you’re surrounded by great books, big ideas, and all sorts of folks who’ve provocative things to say. Some of them will build up your faith, and some will challenge it.
Either way, you’re going to need to be on your toes, both intellectually and spiritually. There’s a heap of accumulated wisdom out there written and composed by wise and intelligent Christians, and it’s all available for to to discover, to pick at, to disagree with, and to feed your mind and your soul.
